For this activity we have to listen to a range of Waiata (Maori Songs) and pick on that we like the most and explain why.

Because we did at the Kapa Haka Festival in westport 
for school and it was one of my favorite songs it also as I really nice beat. This is why I chose it listen to it do you like it???

Week 1 Day 3 (The more, the Merrier?)

The more, the Merrier?

For this post I have to explain why I would like to be in a big family.

Here's why I would. (Well I have a big family I have 6 siblings)
 

I would love to be a memeber of a big family because when ever something happens they'll be there because family always have your back. They're your best friend, the one you can trust.

Another reason why I would love to have a big family is whenever you are upset or angry they will always be there to cheer you, maybe a joke or they make you something nice.
 
That's why I would love to have a big family.

Day 2 Week 1 Activity 1 (wharepuni)

Wharepuni vs. My house

For this post we had to look at a Wharepuni and compare

2 simularities and 2 diffrences between the 2 so here is my post.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The diffrences between a Wharepuni and my house is that at the front there is no door like my house. In the front there's a post to keep it standing and a pole through the middle and at the back to keep the roof standing.

The simularities are

that the have a window at the front like most houses do to bring light to the maori can see.

They also have a fence to keep other people and animal coming in and taking there food resources.

 



Bonus Activty Day 2 Week 1 (Special Meals)

For this task we have to explain
what our favorite meal is mine is:

 

 Butter Chicken!!!

Because my step dad makes it and he adds spices and herbs like cumin and garlic. You can also add Naan bread and put
chicken and rice it tastes amazing. Here's a link to a recipe maybe you can make it for your family for Christmas dinner!

Week 1 Waka Ama (Bonus Activity)

Waka Ama Race 

For this bonus activity we have to explain why or why we want to be in a waka am race here is what I think! 

I don't think I would be good in Waka Ama race because you need to have fast reflexes to change from side to side during the race and you have to be strong to help push the Waka forward with the team.   

You have to have enough power and energy to go the length and keep going through out the race and keep pushing yourself even when your tired!

Week 1 Post Maui and the giant fish (Activity 1)

Maui and the giant fish 

This is my first post for the summer learning journey I'm super excited to share with you the facts that I learned in 

Maui's story.

1.My first fact is that for the fishing line Maui had to weave flax to create a line to catch the giant fish.

2.That Maui use a jaw bone to use a hook 
to hook the fish on to the Waka!

3. That Maui's Waka is the South Island and Maui's giant fish is the 

North Island! 

Extra: He has the same name 

as Maui in Moana.
