On your blog, tell us what you think about this rule and why you think it!
I think this rule is not fair I mean having to pay $100,000 for doing a tiny bit of over fishing! Maybe make a warning for the first time you over fish 2nd time a 4 day suspension and last time $150 fine not 100,000!  Photo from SLJ Page.

On your blog, list three different ideas or strategies for raising funds to preserve the Great Barrier Reef. What could you do to fundraise here in New Zealand?
1. I would have a school Mufti day
2. a Nice bake sale to raise some money
3. a Town event like a town treasure hunt or something!

  1. Hi Rikki- Lee

    Another great post!

    Activity 1
Your piece on over fishing was quite interesting and I think you raised some very strong points! Although I think we should have a fine, maybe $100,000 is a bit much but the price of losing a species is too high! We need to do what we can to ensure we are protecting our seas.
You are on your way to writing a wonderful persuasive argument.
    Pat yourself on the back!

    Activity 2
Thanks for naming the rivers! Have you visited any of them? One day I would like to visit these rivers and help clean up. It’s important that we all do our part in saving the rivers.

    Activity 3
These are such wonderful ideas! Imagine if every school in New Zealand does one day a week of mufti for 4 weeks. I like how you mentioned shops and store keepers! A Lot of people are passionate about our local rivers and would love to contribute to preserving them.

Keep up the creativity and hard work
He Whetu Koe! (You’re a star!)
